Icon were a small(ish) company based in Gosforth, Newcastle, and the whole thing was run by Dave Crofts, and Trevor Scott, after a few years the company got into financial difficulties and ended up selling their development team to ASL and with that other assets such as the rights to the back catalogue. After that I think the company disintegrated.

Bruce Nesbitt, Gary Partis, Jason Sobell, Kevin Blake, Dave Crofts and Dave Mann all ended up working for ASL, their new development team (still based in the North) was run by Darryl Still of ASL and later Godax.

Please contact me if you have any additional information about the company or its games!

A very simple game, you just have to jump over holes and other objects whilst riding on your Armadillo! To make it hard there is usually limited space to jump up, and there are normally obstacles which will kill you if you touch them. It is very difficult, and plays exactly like some other games like BMX On The Moon by Superior, however, it is not as good. Still worth a play though.

A complete rip-off of Bumble Bee from Micro Power. If you want to play this game don't, it is not as good as the Micro Power version, basically it is a maze game like Pac-Man except that you can move some of the walls around.

A very classy puzzler come platformer, this is played with lovely graphics in a high-res mode, and the animation is excellently handled, being both smooth and very enjoyable. You basically have to collect all the apples on the level, watching not to collide with plants, bombs and other such things, then between levels, you have to feed apples to the strangely shaped Contraption.

More of the same only harder, this is not as good as the original, but then again, sequels rarely are!

This is really a rip-off of the original Mario game, you are a plumber (but not Mario) and have to collect all the coins on the levels, which appear in random places, as the same time dodging the turtles and other nasties. You can kill them by hitting the platform they are on from below. The graphics are nice, and the gameplay is quite original and fun. It is worth a play for sure.

A nice version of the old card game Pelmanism. The nice thing is that instead of having static cards, the faces move, and have different pictures on them. You have to match pairs of cards, to reveal a hidden word, the earlier you guess what the word is, the more points you get. The graphics are good, and the sound is ok, even though there is not much of it to hear!

A strange game, you have to voyage inside of frankenstein, through a variety of levels, dodging the germs and trying to get through him. It is quite hard, and the bad collision detection doesn't exactly help. The graphics are low-res, but well drawn and quite detailed. This isn't really worth playing, it is quite monotonous and just doesn't make the grade.

Ah, a very christmassy game this! You have to movce santa across the rooftops, just jumping over the gaps in the roofs, and trying to get to the bottom of the screen. You can also gain a belly bonus by eating as many of the cakes that appear as you can. The graphics are nice, and this isn't really a challenging game, more one for the kiddies on a cold Christmas Eve!

This is a great shoot em up, with you controlling the guns of Space Station Alpha, whilst trying to shoot at the alien ships which are invading the space station. The graphics are really good, with the ships being very detailed and large, chunky sprites which look good in the low-res mode. It does get a bit repetitive though, as do most games of this variety, but it is good for a quick blast now and then.

This is a great fun to play game, you are in control of a spaceman, and have to guide him around the levels, to get to the bottom of the screen and collect the bonus points. It is very simple to play, with just a key for left and right, but that is what makes it appealing, it is also challenging, but not frustrating. The graphics are well done, high resolution and with plenty of colour and the sound is passable.
