RH Soft

Based in Cambridge but the similarities with Acornsoft start and finish there. Apart from Ski Slalom, another worthy recipient of the title "great lost game", the RH roster was decidedly average on the whole. Galactic Wipeout, a messy, sprawling version of Asteroids in a deep blue sky, will be the RH game you're most likely to have seen. According to A&B Computing, Herman Hauser and Chris Curry, just up the road at Acorn, were at one stage keen to acquire RH and develop it as a low-price games subsidiary (possibly even freeing Acornsoft from the games market entirely). Fortunately for fans of Elite, Revs and much of Superior's post-1986 output, history took a different path!

Please contact me if you have any additional information about the company or its games!

Dire Asteroids clone, except the Asteroids are replaced by little smiley faces - how original! The aliens are almost impossible to kill, and the spacecraft looks as if its built by Skoda. Not one if you are a fan of the original, and if you love it so much that you want to play this - go see a doctor.

One-armed-bandit simulator, quite nicely done in mode 7, the scrolling is pretty good. A 1983 release, it must have been the first of its kind of the Beeb, actually RH Soft seem to make some fairly decent games. This is pretty standard though, nothing exceptional.

I have to say this, this is a bad game! Unbelievable I know, but I cannot tell a lie. It is really done using defined chacters, so it looks more like a text game, ultimately boring. It just has that 'quickly knocked up in the backroom' feeling, and you instantly think you could have made it yourself !!

Definitely their finest hour, this game is quite entertaining, the graphics are big and chunky, nicely drawn and they move well, and the whole thing looks much more professional than their first games. The skiing is done from side on view and this works well, it is a change from the more normal top to bottom view.

Basic maze game, you have to get the snail through the maze before the timer runs down. There isn't much to this game and the graphics are distinctly average, but somehow it is worth playing as it is good fun, although it doesnt have much of a lifetime.
