Mirrorsoft

This was the software house of the Maxwell empire, who used to own the Mirror newspapers before he mysteriously dies and made a lot of companies bankrupt - this one was one of them. It continued into the early 1990's, but then disappeared due to lack of money and support. It did a few good games for the old beeb, including the one and only version of Tetris ever published commercially on the Beeb.

You are caesar the cat, and have to catch the mice which are all over the shelves. If you knock too many things off the shelves, then you lose one of the nine cats lives. It is an ok game, but the gameplay is not very varied at all. The graphics are good, and it has a really good tune at the start of the game - most impressive!

This is a sort of unofficial (I think) Mr Men game, you control what looks like Mr Bouncy and have to accomplish a variety of very easy tasks on each level. These include picking up a scarf, bouncing on a see-saw and putting a piece of litter in a bin! It is harder than it looks, although not very much harder, the graphics are nicely drawn and sort of 3D and of course there are all the classic Mr Men characters! I think this one is intended for children.

A flight sim of those good old WWII days. This is actually a quite good game, but it is very complicated, so you'd need a proper manual, which the archive version doesn't have. It is played in a low-res mode, but the graphics are still quite good. It is worth a look if you're into flight sims.

Another flight sim, but this time of the ever popular Harrier, the worlds only vertical take off and landing plane. It is another complicated game, and you won't get much fun out of it if you can't fly the damn thing! It is again played in a low-res mode, which seems to be standard for Mirror Soft. Not as good as Spitfire 40, but still ok.

A so-so version of Tetris, it is nothing special, but it is the only decent one on the Beeb. You must know how to play, but if you don't all you have to do is fit shapes together to make a line across the screen, this line then disappears, but the blocks appearing at the top of the screen get faster all the time, so you need quick reactions. The graphics are nothing special, but they don't really need to be. I seem to remember an enhanced Master version being available - does anyone know of this?
